Mike Ribeiro, a former player for the Dallas Stars, has entered a plea of guilty to indecent assault in relation to an incident that occurred in East Texas in 2021. The incident involved three women. Ribeiro was initially accused of sexually assaulting two women on a boat and attempting to assault a third woman on a jet ski at Lake Cypress in Franklin County, which is located approximately 100 miles east of Dallas.

Ribeiro was acquitted of the two sexual assault charges during his initial trial in February. However, jurors were unable to reach a verdict on the charge related to the attempted sexual assault. Ribeiro chose to accept a plea deal, acknowledging that he inappropriately touched one of the victims without her consent in order to avoid the prospect of another trial.

This confession represents an important development in a case that has garnered significant attention since the allegations were first made. The plea agreement's specifics, including any prospective sentencing, have not been disclosed. Ribeiro's legal difficulties underscore the persistent concerns about accountability and sexual misconduct in sports, particularly in the context of professional athletes.

Ribeiro's legal disputes have prompted apprehension among the public and fans regarding his conduct, both on and off the ice, as a former star player for the Dallas Stars.
