After the board voted 8-1 to accept Dr. Angelica Ramsey's resignation on Sept. 24, the Fort Worth Independent School District (ISD) will pay over $570,000 to purchase her out. Her resignation became effective on Tuesday.

Ramsey will receive $247,961.58 in two instalments, with the initial payment scheduled for this week, as stipulated in the agreement. Furthermore, she will receive $48,539.83 in compensation for unused illness days and PTO. In January, she will receive an additional $28,690 for her retirement contributions for the 2023-24 academic year.

Ramsey will continue to work for Fort Worth ISD until August 30, 2025, despite his resignation as superintendent. She will continue to receive her $335,000 annual salary and stipends and will function as the district's "Ambassador for Public Relations" until that time. In addition to her new position and the buyout, Ramsey is anticipated to receive over $900,000 from the district in the upcoming year.

Ramsey's resignation was precipitated by extensive public criticism from educators, community members, and board members. Mayor Mattie Parker and other local stakeholders also expressed their apprehensions in a letter.

In her statement, Ramsey expressed her appreciation to the board of trustees for the opportunity to serve as the district's leader.

The next board meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, and Fort Worth ISD has not appointed an interim superintendent yet.
