A series of intense storms is putting North Texas on high alert. The storms could bring big hail, high winds, and even tornadoes. Because of several rounds of bad weather, Wednesday through Friday have been declared First Alert Weather Days.
On Wednesday morning, there is a slight chance of significant storms in Texas's western and northwest parts. Between 5 a.m. and noon, there will be a mix of thunderstorms, some of which will be strong. Big hail and strong winds are the main dangers, though not all places will have storms during this time.
Storms will form along and north of the I-20 line. By early Wednesday afternoon, they will have moved east. There will be a short break in the clouds before storms return overnight and into Thursday morning. New storms could bring golf ball-sized hail and strong winds if the front stays stuck over the area.
Thursday is a First Alert Weather Day from midnight to 6 a.m. There will be a break in the afternoon. But more storms are coming Friday, bringing widespread rain and a greater risk of floods. Up to four inches of rain could fall in some places.
As the storms move through North Texas, people are told to stay updated on weather reports, prepare for possible flooding, and be careful of severe conditions.
