After 26 years of dedicated service at Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco, Texas, Chuck Swindoll, the esteemed pastor renowned for his impactful ministry and radio program "Insight for Living," is set to retire. On Sunday, the announcement was disclosed to the general public. Swindoll is scheduled to deliver his final sermon on October 20, just before his 90th birthday.
In his sincere message to the congregation, Swindoll reflected on his tenure at the church, which he established in 1998. "After 26 years of serving as your senior pastor at Stonebriar Community Church, it is now time for me to retire and embark on a new chapter in my life," he declared. He conveyed his appreciation for the community he had established over the years, underscoring that each interaction with the congregation was gratifying and transformative.
Swindoll's departure caused the church to undergo immense transformation. He resigned as senior pastor earlier this year but continued serving as the founding pastor. Jonathan Murphy, employed at Dallas Theological Seminary, has been appointed the new senior pastor.
Swindoll intends to continue his involvement in ministry by directing "Insight for Living," a platform that will concentrate on developing content and mentoring new pastors despite his retirement from pastoral responsibilities. He confirmed, "One never retires from the work of God's kingdom."
Swindoll's legacy encompasses a radio program broadcast globally and a multitude of publications. His impact extends beyond the pulpit, as he has served as the president of Dallas Theological Seminary and has influenced innumerable lives through his writings and teachings. Swindoll is steadfast in his dedication to the dissemination of faith and hope within the community despite his departure from formal leadership at Stonebriar.
