Two members of President Donald Trump's cabinet visited Texas A&M University in College Station to discuss agricultural innovation and food security on his 100th day.

On Tuesday, Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. toured campus and talked at the Texas A&M Beef Center. Aggie alum Rollins spoke on the New World screwworm, a parasitic fly that harms cattle and wildlife.

According to Texas A&M's student publication The Battalion, they discussed cattle disease control and food production sustainability policies. Federal agencies and university institutions worked together to improve food security and animal health during the visit.

After campus, the secretaries visited Sawyer Farms in Hillsboro, Texas. The fourth-generation family farm is vertically integrated with on-site storage and transport.

Kennedy had been in The Woodlands the weekend before to support his son, William “Finn” Kennedy, in the Ironman Texas race. The triathlon took Finn 12 hours and 26 minutes.

By working in Texas, the administration showed its increased attention on rural economies, agricultural resiliency, and public health infrastructure.
