In Thursday night's 120-109 victory over the San Antonio Spurs, Klay Thompson scored 22 points and established a team record with six 3-pointers, making his Dallas Mavericks debut unforgettable. Thompson, playing with Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic for the first time, contributed significantly to both teams' season opener.

The former Golden State Warrior and five-time All-Star soon settled down and got over his first jitters. After the game, Thompson remarked, "There were a lot of nerves and anxiety for a few minutes, and then you see one go through, and you feel great."

Thompson scored 14 points and made four of five 3-point attempts in the second half after a poor start in which he missed four straight shots. After speaking with former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo courtside, he made a wide-open 3-pointer during a 16-3 Mavericks run in the fourth quarter, which was his most memorable moment.

"Sometimes you overthink things when you're that open," Thompson added. However, I heard Luka sprinting across the floor. I'm glad I succeeded in keeping him from looking foolish.

Thompson was 6 of 10 from beyond the arc and 7 of 13 from the field at the end of the game. Kyrie Irving scored 15 points, while Luka Doncic led the club with 28 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists. The Mavericks' new team is off to a good start as they aim to compete in the Western Conference.
